village

While reading something about Dr. Borlog somehow I landed on thinking about my village where I spent my childhood . My school was near two of our small rivers ataksha - katakhsa and ancient temple. We use to sit on the floor, we never had any bathrooms, had to walk for a mile because it was in the outskirts but loved that walk and enjoyed that life more than ever...looking back I wish to live it again...those were the best days of my life....we still have the huge Wada (not in good condition) with the big Ram Mandir....the oldest home system in the world ...wada...

There is a myth that Mandav Rishi stayed in the village hence the name Mandavegan....we have an ancient Shiva Mandir...it is huge...peaceful and artistic....should be on the map of ancient places...but unfortunately people in India don't realize the importance of preserving the heritage...anyway...we also have small group of temples near the river by the Shiva Mandir...by these temples there are ancient trees which has twisted trunks....may be because of small whirlpoool like earthqueakes that we are now aware of....but myth is when rishi was leaving he looked back and so did the trees and they stayed that way....I can live with that...

Since the cities and district places developed and rural area stayed as is...people migrated and now there are hardly any faces that I or even my parents would know...uneducated people slauttered the trees as a result no rain.....farmers cry for help....life is not the same...hate to see that.....very high temperature....hardly any rain....crops gets destroyed...and village just keeps getting empty in all senses...I don't know what and how I can at least preserve the ancient heritage that my village has....

few things I dug up on some other blog...

story 1
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, “I’ll give you $800 to drop that towel.” After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob.
After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks,…
“Who was that?” “It was Bob the next door neighbor,” she replies. “Great!” the husband says, “Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?”
Moral of the story:
If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.
story 2
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, “I’ll give each of you just one wish” “Me first! Me first!” says the admin. clerk. “I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.” Poof! She’s gone. “Me next! Me next!” says the sales rep. “I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.” Poof! He’s gone. “OK, you’re up,” the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, “I want those two back in the office after lunch.”
Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.
story 3
A priest offered a lift to a Nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her gown to reveal a leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun said,”Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest removed his hand. But,changing gears, he let his hand slide up her leg again. The nun once again said, “Father, remember Psalm 129?” The priest apologized “Sorry sister but the flesh is weak.” Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way. On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, “Go forth and seek, further up, you will find glory.”
Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.
story 4
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A rabbit asked him,”Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?” The crow answered: “Sure, why not.” So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested.
A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.
Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.
story 5
A turkey was chatting with a bull “I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,” sighed the turkey, but I haven’t got the energy.” “Well, why don’t you nibble on my droppings?” replied the bull. “They’re packed with nutrients.” The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it wont keep you there.
story 6
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.
Moral of the story:
1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend
3. And when you’re in deep shit, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!

True !! isn't it ?

my angel

I wasn't ready when I realized that I am gonna be a mommy...didn't know what to expect...never even seen a newborn...but as days were passing by I was enjoying being a mommy...planning things to do... which name to pick?....took a professional lesson on how to take care of a baby...thought I am prepared till my baby was actually in my hands...didn't know what to do? she was so small and delicate...and crying...theory and practical are different things...specially with the babies...I was so scared!!! how am I gonna handle this tiny little thing?......but decided to enjoy her growing up...think I am doing alright now...Just keep telling her that 'I love her' and knowing that I have her keeps me going...my little angel is growing up so fast...yesterday she couldn't turn on her side and now she is riding a bike...love to see her doing things on her own... she keeps making me proud...My little angel...

Help ?

I did pretty stupid things when I was in college...but one of the things that I can remember is from my childhood...I was in 5th grade may be...family next door had two kids and they hired a teen to take care of the kids....I often heard crying as you know how small the passages are in the Mumbai city...Once I went to the house to play with the older kid and happen to speak with the girl...she told me that the family doesn't feed her right and raise their hands on her quite a lot....she missed her family too...I did what I had to do (by watching a lot of hindi movies)....

I took an oath in front of the god to set her free (don't know where)...I went to the nearest police station and spoke with one of the "hawaldar"...good thing he trusted me enough to come with me to their house...Of course after showing him the door I went to my house and hid... they all got crazy over a policeman at the house to find out the child abuse...my mom all red and yelling..."who told you to do that?"..."pay attention when I am talking with you"....next door family was in shock...and yelling at me for bringing a policeman....everyone in the building wondered why the policeman is following me...

All I wanted to help the poor child....nobody even asked her whether it's true...and boy people warned me not to help anybody !!!!!!.....but I guess I did the right thing at the time.

what was that ?

so, I was in Mumbai shopping in some shopping fest...As usual shopkeeper were pricing way too high...if you bargain then you might get a good rate otherwise it's a rip off...I was walking around checking out stalls...I passed by a weaved clothing and accessories stall...I liked a handbag and a child poncho shirt...I started bargaining...Here I must mention that I was fasting...not on purpose that it...So, I finally agreed to pay RS 280 for both the items...then we bargained some more....I was little tired and hungry.....When shopkeeper said "O.K. just pay Rs 180" then I was for some reason confused..."for both of them " I said..."yes" he said....so instead of buying it I said "but you said Rs 280 for both of them. So what's it gonna be ? Rs280 right? " and guess what he said ? He said yes it's Rs 280" and I bought it for Rs 280. I kept thinking why am I paying Rs. 280? Should I ask for refund ? What was it? What the hell just happened?

So gist of the story is don't go shopping without having any food first....silly, right ?
